Mothersfonk is the Netherlands’ new funk sensation. The eight-member formation from Rotterdam brings a rousing mix of funk and hip-hop, characterised by deep pocket grooves interspersed with tight breaks and virtuoso solo work. Inspired by the ‘godfather of soul’, they give funk, their own interpretation and contemporary sound.

The band has been playing at festivals like:
North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz in Duketown, Breda Jazz Festival, Kasteeltuinen Concerten, Soulcity, Zuidpop 2025, Barbierpop 2025 and venues like Effenaar (main stage), De Boerderij (main stage) and Nobel, Leiden and many more.

The band members have each individually gained experience in diverse performing bands and collaborations with household names such as Joseph Bowie (Defunkt), Shirma Rouse, Fred Wesley, Jamal Thomas Band (drummer Maceo Parker), Focus, Living blues experience, Miko Weaver (guitarist Prince), Nile Rodgers Tribute Band and Loïs Lane."
